Unclipped dustwrapper. No marks or inscriptions. Gold lettering to spine. Illustrated. While the Allied and Axis forces were slugging it out up the length of Italy, with Allied progress often painfully slow in the face of fierce German reistance, a parallel war, of which most fighting troops were unaware, took place behind the scenes. It was waged between Axis intelligence organisations, desperate to obtain tactical and strategic information on Allied plans (more so as their air force became gradually eliminated), and the Allied military counter-intelligence assembled to thwart their espionage and sabotage. Nice and clean internally and externally. First edition means first edition, first printing, unless otherwise clearly stated.
